Here are the two most common questions asked:

What age can my child start Martial Arts?
Many Martial Arts schools do not allow children to train until age 5-6 but I believe the foundation of Martial Arts training can start around 3 years old. The readiness of varies from child to child, as it is based on social development.

What is the purpose of the Tiny Tiger Program?
The three pillars of the Tiny Tiger Program, physical development, social development and personal development.
1. Physical development - Much like gymnastics, the skills and games the children are exposed to help develop three dimensional awareness of their body and environment. As they move and play they develop strength, gross motor skills and spatial awareness of themselves and others. They also develop specific skills that are necessary for their continued practice in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

2. Social development - Young children are naturally egocentric "me" . Age 3 children are at the bridge between toddler and Pre-school .It is at this age where they need guidance on how to let go of infant communication skills (crying, whining, and tantrums) and encourage them to use their developed communication skills. (speech, listening, and body language) It is also at this age that we need to start to shift their awareness from themselves to that of their broader social group. The class structure gives an environment that aids in teaching team skills, understanding of responsibility to others and their actions and behaviour have effects and consequences on others. In short we aim to erode "I" and "me" and develop "us" and "we".

3. Personal development - Confidence & self esteem, personal & social responsibility and self-discipline are all rooted in self-empowerment. Self-empowerment is developed through offering the opportunity for the children to make decisions based on known consequences. When children are given the power to decide, and these decisions are bound to positive and negative consequences,  they begin to realize they have some control in their lives. This sense of control and awareness of consequences are the beginnings of important character development..

All of these skills are executed in a FUN way through games and play.
